Donald Baird

Dr. Baird is an international leader in the field of ecological risk assessment, with particular expertise in the development of diagnostic approaches to study human impacts. His current research includes the development of new ecogenomics and ecoinformatic / geospatial approaches for large-scale assessment of biodiversity in remote regions. His research group is also actively involved in the development of observation methods focused on whole-ecosystem protection, with ongoing projects across Canada including the Ottawa River, Saint John River floodplain and the Peace-Athabasca Delta in Wood Buffalo National Park. He also actively collaborates with scientists in Canada, and internationally in the UK, Australia, Colombia, Chile and the Netherlands.
