MSc Opportunity Beginning Summer 2017 (UNB Fredericton)
Ecology of Freshwater Mussels

We are seeking an MSc candidate to continue our studies of the freshwater mussels of the Saint John River. The project is a component of ourongoing Mactaquac Aquatic Ecosystem Study at the Canadian Rivers Institute, University of New Brunswick, Fredericton. We have conducted snorkeling surveys to identify the presence, abundance, and spatial distribution of five of 11 species to date. The new candidate will take on a project with several options for study which may be a continuing, foundational description of species and distributions, modelling of habitats and dispersal under the controlled flow regimes of the river, or interrelationships with fish species in the system. This fully funded opportunity, which will begin in the summer of 2017.

The deadline is April 15, 2017, but the call will remain open until we have found a suitable candidate.
