Summary of Duties and Responsibilities
Under the general direction of the WHERD Research Management team, the incumbent will develop an independent research program focusing on benthic ecological risk assessment. The scientist will work closely with the research team in Fredericton, New Brunswick to develop and integrate new research opportunities in the development of ecological risk assessment methodologies to evaluate the effects of multiple, physical and chemical stressors on benthic food webs in aquatic ecosystems. The research will be designed to provide expertise and science to support the mandate of the Water Science and Technology Division. The successful candidate will ensure safe operation of staff in the laboratory and field, provide advice to managers and agencies within DOE, prepare program and study forecasts and study progress reports, and coordinate budgetary administration and control for the independent research program.
